Ring Size Guide

Below is our step-by-step guide to finding your ring size.

Finding the right ring size may be tricky. We have gathered some general tips we hope might help. If you are still not sure about your ring size after following this ring size guide, feel welcome to contact us at hello@tomwoodproject.com and we'll do our best to assist you.

Four steps to measure your ring size:

  • Cut a thin strip of paper.
  • Wrap the paper strip around your finger. Make sure it is snug.
  • Mark with a pen where the two ends meet.
  • Measure the length of the paper up to the marked point. Then use our ring size chart to determine the ring size:

Tom Wood ring measurements

Tom Wood uses European standard ring sizes, which is done by measuring the inner circumference in millimeters. A traditional size 54 indicates a ring that measures about 54 mm around the inner part of the ring. See our Ring Size Chart here for more information.

Thick rings, such as our classic signet rings, normally require you to choose a larger size than slim band rings, which do not build as much on your finger. Please note all our rings are handmade and small deviations might appear between individual rings.

Measuring your ring

If you have a ring you wish to measure, you can do this by measuring either the inner diameter or circumference. You can download the size guide and print it out here (without any scaling) and place your ring on to the round markers to find your correct ring size. You can also bring your ring to a jeweler to have it measured for you. If you are still uncertain about the ring size, we recommend having your finger measured at a local goldsmith.

Measure your finger

Your fingers normally change size depending on the time of day or season. In the summertime, fingers tend to be more swollen than during colder winter days. If you want to measure your fingers, try to find a time that feels «normal» to your fingers. If your knuckle is bigger than where you want your ring placed, try to find a measurement somewhere in the middle of the two.

Between ring sizes?

We normally advise you to choose the largest ring size if you are between sizes, but it is always up to each individual to decide, by trying the piece on and seeing what feels to be most comfortable.
